Terms of Service

Last updated 20 August 2026

The most important thing

rentr is an introduction service. We do not hold your money, we are not party to your rental, and we cannot compensate you if it goes wrong.

When you rent through rentr, the agreement is between you and the other person. We provide the listing, the messaging around terms, and a record of what was agreed. We do not take payment, hold deposits, insure items, or guarantee that anyone will turn up.

Payment happens off rentr

Renters pay owners directly, using the owner's own GCash, Maya or bank details. Those details are shown to a renter only after the owner approves their request.

This means: we cannot reverse a payment, refund you, or hold funds in escrow. If you pay someone and they do not hand over the item, rentr can suspend their account and preserve the record — it cannot get your money back. Inspect an item before paying whenever you possibly can.

Deposits

A listing may state a security deposit. That figure is a statement of what the owner will ask for; rentr never holds it. Whatever you agree about a deposit is between the two of you.

Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
  • Phone verification may be offered as an additional trust step when text messaging is available.
  • Government ID verification is optional and is only used to award an ID-verified badge after review.
  • One person, one account. Do not share credentials.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.

If you list an item

  • You must actually own it, or have the right to rent it out.
  • Describe it honestly, including faults.
  • Write a care package — the handling and return instructions renters must follow. Damage is assessed against what you wrote, so write it carefully.
  • Keep availability accurate, and honour bookings you approve.
  • Do not list anything illegal, stolen, counterfeit, a weapon, or otherwise prohibited by law.

If you rent an item

  • Follow the care package.
  • Return the item on time, in the condition you received it.
  • Photograph the item at pickup and at return. This is your evidence, and ours.
  • Tell the owner promptly if something breaks.

Verification badges mean less than you think

An “ID verified” badge means someone showed us a government ID that appeared to match their selfie. It is not a character reference, a credit check, or a guarantee of honesty.

Where a listing shows proof of authenticity, that is the owner's evidence, surfaced for you to judge. rentr does not verify authenticity and makes no warranty about it.

Vehicles

Vehicles may be listed. rentr does not check driving licences, registration, roadworthiness or insurance, and does not insure anything. If you rent or rent out a vehicle, satisfying yourself on all of that — and on who is liable in a collision — is entirely your responsibility.

Reviews

Only someone who completed a rental with you can review you. Reviews stay hidden until both sides submit, or fourteen days pass, so neither of you can react to the other's rating. Reviews are permanent once published. Do not write anything defamatory or abusive.

Suspension

We may remove a listing or suspend an account where we believe these terms have been broken — a scam, a prohibited item, harassment, or a pattern of complaints. Suspension takes effect immediately and prevents sign-in.

The reports and verification records used for moderation are retained so administrators can audit why an action was taken.

Disputes between users

Damage, lateness and non-return are between you and the other party. rentr can provide the record — the agreed terms, the care package, the handover photos, the payment timestamps — and will do so on request. We do not adjudicate, and we do not pay compensation.

Our liability

rentr is provided as-is. To the fullest extent Philippine law allows, we are not liable for loss, damage, theft, injury, or lost earnings arising from a rental arranged through the platform, or from a payment made directly between users.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for our own fraud or gross negligence.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use rentr after that means you accept them.
